p-Xylene

p-Xylene provides thermodynamic property data for p-xylene (1-4-dimethylbenzene, CAS #106-42-3, MW 106.165 g/gmole).  The thermodynamic properties are obtained using the fundamental equation of state provided by:

Yong Zhou, Jiantau Wu and Eric Lemmon",

"Thermodynamic Properties of o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, and ethylbenzene"

J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data, Vol. 41, No. 2, 2012

The correlation is valid for temperatures between 286.4 K and 700 K for pressures less than 200 MPa.

The reference state for which the specific enthalpy and entropy are both zero is saturated liquid at the normal boiling point.

Transport properties (except for gas-phase viscosity) are provided using correlations given in:

Yaws, Carl L., ed. Chemical Properties Handbook. New York: McGraw-Hill, 1999.

Gas-phase viscosity is from:

"Recommended Values for the Viscosity in the Limit of Zero Density and its Initial Density Dependence for Twelve Gases and Vapors: Revisited from Experiment

between 297 K and 691 K"

Eckhard Vogel

J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data 49, 043102 (2020); https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0023688

The correlation for gas phase thermal conductivity is applicable for temperatures between 400 and 825 K.

The correlation for liquid phase thermal conductivity is applicable for temperatures between 286.4 and 585 K.

The correlation for gas phase viscosity is applicable for temperatures between 286 and 700 K.

The correlation for liquid phase viscosity is applicable for temperatures between 288 and 616 K.
